DLR Institute of Flight Guidance
The DLR is the German research and technology center for aerospace. In its core areas, the DLR develops technologies for aerospace, energy and transport, as well as security and defense research. A wide range of results and innovations bring benefits to industry and business, authorities and administration, and public stakeholders. The DLR faces up to its responsibility to society through intensive knowledge exchange and targeted technology transfer.
The DLR receives its institutional funding from the BMWK and BMVg. The German Space Agency at the DLR is responsible for planning and implementing German space activities on behalf of the federal government. Two DLR project sponsors work as management institutions for research and industry funding. The climate, mobility and technology are changing globally. The DLR uses the know-how of its 54 institutes and facilities to develop solutions to the resulting challenges. Our 11,000 employees have a common mission: we explore Earth and space. We develop technologies for a sustainable future and, through technology transfer, help to strengthen Germany as a location for knowledge and business.
The DLR Institute of Flight Guidance is contributing its expertise to the implementation of the core objectives of the project: autonomous pushbacks and an innovative human-machine interface for controller support. To this end, the institute supports the definition of requirements, the technological implementation and the creation, validation and demonstration of the required operating concepts and systems. Among other things, the radio voice understander developed at the institute will be adapted to the operating environment examined in the project at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport and tested there. The new developments will be validated both in the institute's simulators and at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport. Another key subject of investigation by the institute: the change in the roles and tasks of operators through the use of automation.
