The airport
Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport
Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is the home port for holiday and business travellers from East Westphalia-Lippe and the neighbouring regions of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. In addition to scheduled and tourist flights, the range of services also includes business and private charter flights. The range of flights includes direct connections to popular holiday destinations in Spain, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Egypt. In addition, the home port offers connections to global air traffic via the regular connection to the Munich hub.
Out of the front door, into the aeroplane
Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is firmly anchored in the region and sees itself as a partner, service provider and driving force when it comes to future-orientated private and commercial mobility. The home port counters the anonymity of mass processing in air traffic with a high degree of individuality in its services, which turns passengers into welcome guests. The proximity to the airport is reflected in the quick accessibility via mostly congestion-free roads and in the personal touch with which the team treats passengers.
From landing site to commercial airport
The history of Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport began in 1969 with the initiation of a planning approval procedure for the construction of a commercial airport. The first smaller aircraft and business jets took off and landed as early as September 1971. In 1984, the airport was officially authorised as a commercial airport. Today, the home harbour is an airport with state-wide significance for air traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia. To mark its 55th anniversary in 2024, PAD Airport was given the nickname ‘Heinz Nixdorf’ in memory of the legendary computer pioneer from Paderborn.
