EML Speech Technology
EML Speech Technology GmbH was founded in Heidelberg in 1997 by SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira and has been part of the Karlsruhe-based alfa group of companies since 2022, which also includes alfatraining educational center, alfaview video communication and alfaATC Communications. Since 2007, EML's research and development activities have focused on new methods and products for automatic speech recognition and speech understanding. In the field of human-machine interaction for controller support, EML has been cooperating with the Spanish Center for Research and Development in Air Traffic Management (CRIDA), the Spanish air traffic control ENAIRE, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) since 2008. Bilingual (English-Spanish) models developed by EML use data from "real" flight operations and are used for call sign recognition by ENAIRE and CRIDA as part of the SESAR2020-funded measure PJ.10-W2-96.
